Key Features of WagonFit
WagonFit brings together everything a modern gauging workflow requires, in a single environment and with a consistent 3D approach throughout.

True 3D Gauging
Gauging is a spatial problem. WagonFit operates entirely in 3D space, capturing the interaction between moving vehicles and their surrounding infrastructure with full geometric fidelity. Horizontal alignment, vertical profile and cant are combined in a single track model, and infrastructure can be built from surfaces, lines, points or LiDAR point cloud data.

Kinematic solver based on geometry
At the core of WagonFit is a real time kinematic solver that determines vehicle position using geometric and anatomical parameters alone. Stiffness, damping and inertial data are not required, which makes the analysis available from the earliest stages of a project and simplifies comparative studies against existing vehicles.

Vehicle to infrastructure and vehicle to vehicle analysis
Gauging is an interaction between two parties. WagonFit evaluates both, measuring distances between the vehicle and any infrastructure element, and between multiple vehicles operating on the same corridor.

Swept volume and space utilisation
WagonFit computes the complete 3D space a vehicle occupies along a route. It also determines the maximum volume a vehicle could occupy within the available clearance, providing a design envelope that can be used from the first stages of vehicle development.

Support for Arbitrary Multi-Articulated Layouts
Any vehicle configuration can be modelled. Users assemble the required components and connect them with the appropriate joints, from a single carbody to complex articulated layouts with shared bogies and coupled units.

Automatic sections analysis
Cross sections can be defined anywhere in the model, in any orientation, either fixed to the infrastructure or following the vehicle along the route. Each section displays the vehicle contour, the infrastructure boundary and the clearance measurement, with any number of sections evaluated in a single analysis run.

High-Speed Batch Processing
The solver handles thousands of batch calculations within a reasonable time frame, making it possible to evaluate large load case sets without resorting to simplifications. Load cases can be defined manually or generated from probability distributions for statistical analysis.

Design parameters beyond the clearance envelope
Because every component and connection is modelled explicitly, the same analysis provides joint angles, coupler angles, component stroke, wheelset lateral displacement and any other geometric parameter relevant to the vehicle design.

Industry-Standard Interoperability
Multiple industry standard file formats are supported for import and export, allowing WagonFit to integrate into existing CAD and project workflows. Users can perform precise measurements using actual geometries or gain an immersive perspective from within the vehicles.
